Title: Advice needed
Post by: Enablingmom on May 15, 2020, 02:00:16 PM
Hello
I am a mother of a teenage child who has been diagnosis with bpd, as well as severe mood disorder, pyschosis and anxiety. Have been dealing with this for over a year. He currently is in a residential treatment center and still refuses help. I'm not sure how else to help him. Any thoughts would be appreciated as I feel so lost as a parent and as a person in general.

Hello Enablingmom!
I really can relate to your problems! My D20 applied for treatment last year, but was rejected, and no she is not at all willing to try anything. She was rejected because she had more than one severe diagnosis, so I am totally with you there.
Teenager or "grown-up", it is impossible to force someone to get better.
I think they must find some motivation within themselves. BUT we can help by looking for good therapists, keeping up relations with family and so on. The best will probably be to find a nice therapist, that they can trust, and to start building up a relationship, patiently, so there will be some common groud to work from.
Take care!
