Title: Looking for therapist Post by: @Wits End on May 28, 2020, 10:40:19 AM I'm trying to find a good therapist to help my partner. She is talking to someone now but it isn't helping and I need to find a professional who knows how to treat BPD. I'm in Northern Virginia.

Is your partner unsatisfied with their progress as well? Has she been diagnosed with BPD? Generally speaking, look for a therapist who has experience with personality disorders and one who offers DBT. A lot of times, they are affiliated with a hospital behavioral health unit. Have you tried that? Title: Re: Looking for therapist Post by: @Wits End on June 01, 2020, 01:21:31 PM No I don't think she would say she's unsatisfied. She's definitely high-functioning and she has never told me that she was diagnosed with BPD but we saw counselors at the same practice 7-8 years ago and our individual counselors did a few couples therapy sessions with us. After those couples sessions it was my counselor who first told me about BPD and suggested my partner fits the bill. Everything I've read about BPD since then could have been written by me about my relationship with her. She did do some DBT therapy back then and I do think it helped some but she never followed through on it. I am still looking for a therapist and I've found a few but getting her to therapy was hard enough--now getting her to fire her current therapist (who is totally unhelpful) and get someone who knows how to treat BPD is going to be a chore.
