Title: partner's son with BDP Post by: polyhelpbdp on June 20, 2020, 11:39:21 AM My partner's son has BDP, the son is not in treatment /never has been and lives with his father (my partner). All futures are stalled: the son is living in bedroom, not leaving apt nor working for several years now. His dad is at a loss and has no contact (except for some super negative/angry bouts 3-4 times per month - otherwise everyone tries to ignore one another). No one is allowed over (including me) because it sets off an episode of anger/screaming etc. I'm at my wits end trying to be supportive but what's to be done? Partner's afraid to set boundaries (and act on them) fearing he'll lose his son forever. I contend he IS losing his son to the disease and doesn't have a relationship anyway - ideas?
