Title: Online assessment or diagnosis
Post by: SLOJoy on July 23, 2020, 03:27:06 PM
I am looking for an online diagnosis for bpd or other personality disorders. I am also wondering if there is online treatment as well.  I am finding it hard to find someone local that is willing to diagnose a teen for personality disorders.
Regards,
Joyce

Hi ,
My first go to is finding out a list a providers through my health insurance.  The next thing is to obtain a list from your county's crisis team ( if in US and if your county has this).  After that you can look on website Pyschology today.com

This website ultimately did not help my son, ( but then again , he didn't want help).  I can't endorse it one way or the other , honestly, however ask your health insurance if they would cover ( mine did, believe it or not).

Part 2
~ Keep in mind, Many psych are reluctant to give a full dx of BPD to a teen under 18 due to the teen brain undergoing all sorts of changes, hormonal or otherwise.  My son was first dx with narcissistic personality disorder traits, that morphed over his teen years until full dx of BPD when he was 25 , along with mood disorder and substance abuse.
