Title: In need of advice
Post by: Wentworth2020 on August 15, 2020, 12:10:56 PM
Hello, I'm currently struggling with support for my partner, her bpd is getting worse but she doesnt really want anymore help due to feeling so low. I'm worried shell do self harm or worse. I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice on how to support or help her until she feels she wants help.

Hi Wentworth2020,

Welcome to the BPDFamily website.   My apologies for being late to your post.

It's good that you are reaching out for help even if she can't right now.  Being in a relationship with some one with BPD is difficult.   It's not intuitive.     it takes effort on our parts to communicate effectively.   To validate appropriately.   and to set healthy boundaries.

It's sounds like your partner was diagnosed and accepted the diagnosis?    Do I have that correct?   How much have you learned about the disorder?    a good place to start is the lessons thread that is pinned to the top of this board.

do you feel comfortable telling us what is going on currently that made you reach out here?   details will help us to tailor our response to your situation.
