Title: I need Advice
Post by: Sheelagh on August 18, 2020, 09:55:33 AM
I have an adult daughter living with us who is displaying signs of bpd. She attacks me verbally when I suggest she talk to someone. The thing is I am drained and exhausted with the verbal abuse and roller coaster of moods. Is there anywhere online maybe that I can get advice on how to manage this. It is hard to find a therapist who knows about bpd and how to manage a loved one.

I am not sure where you live and what options there are available. There is  a great deal of information on this site. I live in Australia and I access an online counselling service for families of those with mental illness. I think I just typed in general words like 'family of bpd online counselling aus' and sorted through the sites that popped up.

I really relate to the exhaustion you are feeling. Being constantly 'on alert' for the next abusive rage is just so difficult to deal with. Even when my BPD-DD is being okay, I am still anxious because I know it can change in an instant.

Over the years I have learned to let go and even if you can do this for a short period of time, it seems to help. If you can find ways to look after yourself that is the best starting point in my experience. It also helps reading others stories here - you know you are not alone.
