Post by: Helpformom123 on August 24, 2020, 09:31:55 PM
Hi there
Just looking for some resources for families / caregivers of those diagnosed with BPD please
Tips for coping , how to talk and reach out to our BP Adultchild
Tips to keep her safe from harming herself, self sabotage
(Not an apparent immediate danger but she attempted 2 weeks ago) , she is newly on meds, new to counselling, in agreement with accepting help, but still in a very negative pattern of abusive relationships

Welcome!
The first big , good  thing is that your daughter is in therapy.  That is huge!
The second big thing is you found this forum.  Take a look around.  You can also click on the names of members here to get their past posts/ backstory.

Read up on all you can on BPD, the library here has suggested books, a popular one is " Stop Walking on Eggshells".   You will learn the first step to helping your daughter will be to help yourself first.  Counter intuitive, yes, but true.  Take a look at the drop down menus here along the top of this page.
It is also necessary to realize that your daughter will have to be the one to keep her safe from self harm and self sabotage.  Many of us here have to build our own network to lean into such as this forum.  I also go to my own therapy in order to cope.  Does she live with you ? Please write back as you are able.
