Title: Blocking Post by: Perplexed5185 on September 30, 2020, 04:19:47 PM How long does an ex (BPD diagnosed) typically keep you blocked for, once they do it? I know there’s no typical but would like to hear others experience. Is it ever for good? What’s the reasoning?
Title: Re: Blocking Post by: CountTo108 on October 01, 2020, 08:36:11 AM Disclaimer: haven't had same experience. But a thought about reason: pwBPD have intense emotional responses. Two parts:
(1) Social media platforms are by design engineered to elicit intense emotion ("engagement") in order to prompt users to return. The more users engage, the more ads can be served to them—one source of monetization. Also, the more details about them can be scraped (snooped, spied on, harvested) by the platform into a bucket of info/intel. The info is sold to behind-the-curtain aggregators, which use it to manipulate users into purchasing, voting, identity theft, or other profitable behaviors. If you drill deep enough, you'll probably find Facebook knows what color sheets you slept on last night, even if you don't have a Facebook account. Likewise, Google, YouTube, Insta, Twitter, TicToc… The reason BPD Family relies on donations is that they don't do this. (2) A pwBPD having an emotional cascade needs/wants to limit his/her own intensity. Blocking you may feel like it accomplishes that goal. It may also feel like a punishment, used to deny you the addictive stimulation of social media. I'm sorry if that's cold comfort; I really don't know the answer to "how long." I wish you well. My ex-gf took 1 year to unblock me on instagram and whatsapp and phone call... But after 2 months, she's back in and blocked me again since yesterday because I've been rough with her. Also, she didn't block me on instagram...yet... |
