Title: DBT Therapy
Post by: Ishopelost on October 09, 2020, 07:06:23 PM
Hello I have an adult son (26) that was diagnosed with BPD and also has an addiction to alcohol.    The dual diagnosis treatment center he was at for 30 days recommended he do DBT Group Therapy for his BPD...  SO I called how many places where he will be moving to (he does not live near us but in a state 1700 miles away)  NO ONE ACCEPTS HEALTH INSURANCE for the DBT therapy!      They want $75 for each group therapy per week and then $100-$150 per individual therapy as well which could be once a week..  How can anyone afford this?   I don't understand if this is a serious mental illness and the one with the highest suicide rate, then why do the therapists NOT accept health insurance?

Hi ,
Would your health insurance reimburse you after receipt of services ; can that be a possibility? It's not great, but you would recoup some/ maybe most of your $$.
