Title: Dating someone with BPD
Post by: mimi5 on November 06, 2020, 05:19:11 PM
I’ve been seeing someone with BPD for 3 years now and I really love him but our whole relationship has been on and off. We would stop talking for days or weeks at a time during the 3 years then get back together but I need to keep him in my life and make him stop leaving me because he says he loves me and wants to make it work but he’s always the one who’s leaving and ending things. So how am I supposed to make this situation work.

mimi5, many of us can relate to what you're saying. After 3 years it seems unlikely that the pattern will change dramatically. Much of this boils down to what you want. It takes a good deal of hard work to be in a close relationship with someone with BPD.

There are success stories here I'd highly recommend. Does your SO have an official diagnosis, and does he pursue treatment?
