Title: Seeking support
Post by: Bulldog88 on December 28, 2020, 01:29:19 PM
Hello,
I believe my 25 year old child has BPD.  Has been diagnosed with Bipolar previously,  and current therapist is thinking Complex PTSD; but my therapist encouraged me to read about BPD, and this really seems to describe my loved one perfectly.
The last 5 years have been a complete roller coaster ride, from suicide attempts, substance abuse, compulsive, risky behavior, going through job after job and relationship after relationship.
I am looking for ways to truly help my loved one, while keeping some semblance of a life for the rest of our family.  Hoping for help with what seems like a monumental task.  Anyone that has been at this for a while, and has some tips, I'm all ears.

Welcome to BPD family Bulldog88. There is a great deal of helpful information here, both in relation to BPD itself and how to best journey with a BPD loved one.

You will also find here a group of people who understand what that journey is like. Of course each person's experience and situation will be different, but there are enough similarities so that you know you are not alone in dealing with this complex illness.

I hope, by reading others' threads you will find examples of strategies and insights that will be helpful.
