Yes as you say, teens can tend to isolate in their rooms for privacy and independence. Some people with BPD like their space to self care and that may be considered as isolating. What's happening Doug? Are there other behaviours, symptoms concerning you? Hermits are hermits to cope with emotional pain by withdrawing. What does she say when you ask her why she can't stand to be around you? No judgement here by my asking. The problem is that she's not actually alone- she's on social media but a steady diet of that only complicates things. What I have learned so far- the next time my daughter is hospitalized will be the start of a clean break with social media. I feel this can't be stressed enough. I wanted to have more control but my optimistic husband thought she could handle it. That was a mistake. |
