Title: Son is home with BPD and does nothing with his time. Post by: Dailystoic on April 30, 2021, 11:40:27 AM My son just finished inpatient and outpatient DBT earlier this month. He has not had any self harm or suicidal thoughts since January. Overall he seems to be in a better place. My concern is is that he is not taking advantage of all the free time he has now to put some of his DBT skills into action. He is to start college again in the fall. I’m afraid that if he jumps into college that he will scramble and that he will relapse. I feel this sense of urgency for him to be more active in his treatment. Yet, he spends all of his time on his phone on his bed. He has no hobbies. He does not exercise, he has no structure, his self-care skills are so so. Any advice, should I just let him figure this out with my fear that he will fail and that we’re back to where we started.

- Sleep - Social - Staying engaged in an interest - Taking meds - Seeing and sticking with therapy. BPD takes over and stops any progress on the above. Not sure what to do. |
