Title: Guidance appreciated Post by: ReginaPhalange92 on May 17, 2021, 04:19:11 PM Hello,
I'm new here and to the topic of BPD. I think my dad might have BPD. I was recommended "Stop Walking on Eggshells" by a therapist and there are a lot of similarities between the signs and my dad's behaviors. But I'm still not sure and he has refused for many years to see a therapist or get any kind of help. Does anyone have any good websites or books or other information that you have found helpful? For years I posted on a website called "Voicelessness." It is about Narcisstic Personality Disorder, which applies to both my parents (my mom is also BPD'd), some of my siblings, and me at certain points of my life. I think it was overrun by trolls, or maybe just regular people seeking help that kind of reached a critical mass. That's my scientific term for "overpopulation," in a simplified way. Anyway, the sight was hugely popular, I posted there for almost a decade. It still exists btw, but you have to have a login from before and it's closed to new members. Books? I have read so many I don't remember. Not sure what's current, but I read Divorcing a Parent, and that one sort of stuck. Someone on this site will very shortly refer you to it's booklist. I'm sure there are some great books out there. To me, however, the biggest value has been connecting with others who can hear me, who can see me. Not being voiceless anymore. Connecting with those who get me. Maybe even being that "mom" to someone who is like me when I started this journey. Alone. Afraid. Sad. Confused. Very very aware. Unlike my siblings. Anyway, welcome here. b |
