Hi.
I'm new here and am still finding my feet, but I recognise a lot here and perhaps I'm in the right community.
That given...
I dealt best with the silent treatment by imagining I was living alone.
I did the usual as if single and home by myself; read a book, watch a movie, make a sandwich, go for a bike ride.
What doesn't work for me is trying to fix the problem - trying to deal directly with the silence issue just enables fights and further complications here.
My wife's last long silence was for 6 weeks, and was just the latest of a long line of events in years of doing such.
When she broke that silence, I extended it for another month; she didn't do it again barring a single recent event of a day or two.
During that 10 weeks, in my own mind, I was a single guy living happily alone in a stress-free environment.
