Title: Learning More Post by: light the way on August 03, 2021, 08:04:13 AM Hello everyone,
This is my first post. My daughter has recently been diagnosed with Bipolar 2 illness and BPD. She has been put on medication which is significantly helping her with her severely fluctuating moods. For me, it has been years of impulsivity, alcohol consumption, overspending and unhealthy relationships building to a level of destruction in my daughter. I am seeking help for myself. Knowing that I am not the cause of her disorder, I do believe I might be part of the solution to a better relationship and a greater understanding of her experience. Thank you. A lot going on with your daughter. Now that she's been formally diagnosed, she will hopefully be able to get the help she requires. What led up to her being diagnosed now? She has been put on medication which is significantly helping in regulating her moods, which certainly is a positive development. Is she perhaps also getting (talking) therapy? I am glad you are posting here to learn more about the disorder and how you can best cope with this situation yourself. We have many parents on this board who are also dealing with BPD children, some officially diagnosed as BPD and others not. I encourage you to take a look around here and also read posts of other members as I think you might relate to several of their experiences too. Take care and welcome to our online community  The Board Parrot |
