Title: Texting when Bipolar depressive BF goes silent
Post by: Kla on November 03, 2021, 01:07:49 PM
Hello all,
I am in a new (6 month) relationship with a bipolar man. He has gone quiet once before and broke off our relationship once before, always coming back after I reach out.
He has gone quiet again out of the blue since Sunday. His last text is that he was struggling with unworthy feelings and couldn’t figure out more than that. I have text him 3 times short letting him know I understand and I will be here when he is ready. No response.
Do I keep texting now or let him reach out .
If I should text, what should I say?
Also, how long does this silent period usually last?

Any help or information will really ease my anxiety.

You’ve already communicated that you’re there for him when he is ready. Further texting could be seen as intrusive. When he’s ready, he will respond. There’s no formula as to when that could occur. In the meantime, best to learn self soothing strategies to manage your anxiety.
