Title: The first step
Post by: Eva.Flora on August 21, 2022, 09:39:54 PM
Good night people,

Today was the day I took the first step towards a new life.
I finally shared with my in-laws the reality of the relationship I was living with my boyfriend.

I've also finally taken the action of talking to my boyfriend and saying that living together is no longer working. And that it would be better not to live together anymore.

I asked him to accept his parents' help and seek treatment.

I know it's going to be a long road, but I'm glad I took the first step.
I don't want to be naive to think that everything will be easier now, but I'm happy to have been able to position myself and decide what's best for me and for him too.

I would like to thank you for all the help you have given me and I hope to continue sharing the new steps with you.

Good morning Flora

Just writing to affirm you in this decision that you have made that appears to be well thought out.

Won't say more except to add this one image that maybe you might find helpful.

New steps are in fact that - new. It can be helpful on the soul if one gives one's body time to catch up to one's mind in the process. There's that adjustment period that you have alluded to. I treated it like an adventure - sometimes there were rough patches and other times there were magnificent clearings.

Hang in there.

With Rev -- it sounds to me like you are acting in line with your values of compassion and integrity. I hope you can have a sense of "you have done all that you can do". Time to journey on alone and allow him to have his own path, whatever that looks like.

What do you think might be the biggest challenge for you in the next few days or weeks?

It was a very tough decision, but necessary.
It will certainly be a path of discoveries, liberations and challenges.
I'm willing to try and I feel free with everything I'm living after this decision.

Thank you for the words!

When I stop to think about my path from now on, I think it will be one of lightness and learning.

But I think the biggest challenge I'm going to face is going to be
absence of my boyfriend, who was my partner and we also had happy moments.
And understand that the distance will do me good. Dealing with this absence will be the hardest for me.
We did everything together, so I'll have to rediscover new paths from now on. And I know that this will often be painful, but necessary.
