Title: I'm Reading "Living Successfully with Screwed Up People" by Elizabeth B. Brown
Post by: Artsy Mom on September 07, 2022, 03:41:52 PM
I am on Chapter 9 of "Living Successfully with Screwed-Up People" by Elizabeth B. Brown and find it a great resource for me to reflect on my own values, history, longings and expectations. Each of the 19 chapters are concise about one topic, with charts, lists,  & diagrams and take away points at the end. I see it as part of the healing journey for me - me as a "screwed up" (i.e. different, unique) person as I learn new coping and relating skills with all people. There are some topics that just hit home - frazzled emotions/reasoning, getting off the fence, healing the hurts, helping or not, stress and effect on body, etc. Although this book is not specific to mental illness but human relationships in general, I have already gleaned much that will help me in my journey with my family member. I find it refreshing and very informative.
