Title: never ever give up
Post by: tristesse on April 27, 2023, 04:24:46 PM
I have been absent for a really long time, but decided to pop in today.
My DD has made marked improvement over the course of time. She has learned to identify her triggers, and stop the  rage before it starts ( usually ) obviously BPD isn't something that just miraculously goes away, but it does get better.
DBT has been a Godsend for her, and learning effective communication skills on my part has made a world of difference as well.
This daughter is 39 years old now, and has lived independently for the last 5 years. My DH and I never thought she would be able to live independently as the BPD is only one of her issues, well she sure showed us!
The Take away from this short little visit is simple, Never stop trying, never lose hope and never give up on your BPD person.

That’s really fantastic news.  I’m thrilled for you and your family. May I ask how did you get her to therapy?

That is hopeful news that I needed to hear. God bless!

"and learning effective communication skills on my part has made a world of difference as well."
Would you please share some of your wisdom with me too? I have learnt a great deal in 30yrs of marriage with a difficult husband but challenge of dd is something else.
