Title: My best friend with BPD won’t forgive me
Post by: Braves918 on May 31, 2023, 03:08:54 PM
My best friend with BPD won’t forgive me for an honest, innocent mistake. I made dinner plans with someone I wasn’t aware talked PLEASE READ (https://bpdfamily.com/safe-site.htm) about her. I should’ve known better. I should’ve known this would be her reaction. She won’t forgive me. How do I fix this. It was an honest mistake.

Hi Braves918, welcome to the group  :hi:

Yes, pwBPD can struggle with "all or nothing" thinking, where even an honest mistake can become "the unforgivable event". So difficult to cope with, and you're left reeling.

Can I ask, does your friend have an official diagnosis? Or is this more "putting some pieces together" on your part?

Occasionally giving the pwBPD space and time to self-soothe and come back to baseline can help make things less bad. Has that happened over the last few days?
