Title: BPD, aging and longevity Post by: Savannahcat on June 07, 2023, 07:21:14 AM Divorced over 12 years ago from BPD H. At this point very little / no contact between us and his three adult children. He has extreme medical co morbidity issues. There is some literature supporting life span limitations due to BPD. Not surprising, there is support for the idea that the behavior and symptoms of BPD exacerbate health concerns. Any thoughts, observations from members? This forum got me through the night so many times. Appreciate your perspectives.

So many things factor into this- genetics, economics, environment. What I can say is that since BPD behaviors have an influence on all relationships- relationships with caretakers and other people who assist the elderly- are also affected. Behaviors such as addictions can influence health even without BPD, and may be present with and without BPD. In addition to the experiences of people who have partners with BPD, on the parent with BPD section of this board, there are several of us who have elderly parents with BPD, (myself included) who are in contact with them and who may be able answer some of your questions if you want to also post there. It is more like a nervous laugh and levity for the hard truth of my life.
Both GP and T have told me that the stress I carry and manage from my uBPDw is going to have a significant impact on my near and long term health. FWIW. |
