Title: Emotionally numb partner
Post by: Winterberry on November 03, 2023, 07:18:09 PM
Hello, haven’t posted on here for a while, hope you’re all well.
My partner wBPD have been together for a year and he is traumatised to the point where they are pretty emotionally numb and while they do love me and have feelings for me, he says he doesn’t feel love like he did with his ex (before he got even more traumatised by this relationship.) It seems to be his way of protecting himself from getting hurt. He seems alright when we’re together but tends to become very numb when he’s alone especially. He’s been treating me well and wants to be with me but I can’t help but feel sad and jealous that he may not feel love as deeply as I’d hope, and I often have to remind myself that it’s not something wrong with me or that I’m not lovable enough. Regardless, I want to remain by his side and support him as he hopefully gradually gets better. Even though I found it awkward I found the guts to bring this up a few times but it did sometimes end in an argument, as he says that I tell him he can talk about his feelings but he doesn’t want to as it causes problems such as this. Any advice on how to deal with this?
