Title: Success stories.
Post by: HappyChappy on December 13, 2023, 02:21:42 PM
Given how hard it is for most that first hit this forum, just wanted to show a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. My sucess took many years, but let's celerbrate any progress however small. I'll go first:

I have a uBPD mum and my ex wife was considered a "covert Narcissist" i.e. they both used narcistic manipulation (lies) to serve themselves first. Here's the good news:

I was a wreck when I first came here, Mum and my ex both arguing over money and control. Now those two live alone, my kids look at it as "PLEASE READ (https://bpdfamily.com/safe-site.htm) happens" and are both thriving at Uni and I've recovered enough to get back into work. The only way we could uncover the lies was by getting an audit trail, so they couldn't re-write history. Given I'm dyslexic, I record conversations - but even when my BPD heard those conversations she denied it was her, so that will never change. But your life can.

I recently had a contract at government organisation where they were breaking the Equalities & Disabilities law, and they closed ranks and went at me hammer and nail when I mentioned it - until I revealed I had hidden recordings and the culprit admitted it instantly, prior to that he was going take me to court etc.. etc..
The truth is always the best defence.

... if you can prove it's the truth.

'Ain't dat da truth!'

It's unfortunate that we have to resort to video/audio recording people with PD's, keeping their texts and emails.  However, as there are so many people with PD's (15% of the population, ~5.8% of the population with BPD), 1 in 16 women, and 1 in 19 men have diagnosable BPD according to a massive study by the NIH, we need to protect ourselves from the 'false narratives' that are generated by exaggerated feelings.  Fortunately I learned this before it bit me in the @$$.  If my pwBPD ever decides to cross me, at least I will have a fighting chance against her impassioned narrative instead of almost no chance.

The answer, unfortunately is to take the effort and time to cover your own @$$.

Take care with self-care.
