Title: Here's to a better year? Post by: BPDstinks on December 26, 2023, 05:58:36 AM Well...I hope everyone had a decent Christmas? Definetly a strange one! I have odd news to "report", I saw my son, randomaly, at our Christmas Eve dinner, with my mom, husband & (non) BPD daughter....it is the first time I have seen him in 6 years! He was polite (it was weird to be so awkward with your child!), however, the "greeting" was very disappointing, he did not ask about his daughter, said, Merry Christmas & left (sigh!) however, my bigger news...I texted my BPD daughter, Merry Christmas & she responded, "thank you for giving me space"; I feel a world of better...(Not much, but I will take it) and she reached out to her sister; thank you, everyone, for making the holiday bearable and I hope it was for you, as well

That is kind of the dream for me. In future years, my daughter saying ‘thank you for giving me space”. I doubt it will happen, but … hey! It did for you. And she contacted her sister. Hugs! It is always good to read of progress. I just enjoyed our first drama free Christmas. It was … liberating. And odd. On Boxing Day we had our traditional joyful loud messy brunch with our ‘adopted family” (Mum, Dad and their 5 children - 4 now adults - all came). My daughter missed her 3rd brunch. No-one mentioned her but me (in the retelling of family stories she was present at, not in the talking about her specifically way). She was the elephant in the room, but she took up less space this year. So a smaller elephant. And less grief. There was a lot of laughter, and love, and joy. So also progress! I am just going to wait patiently; I understand the re-telling (I find myself looking at pictures to ensure myself "it was real!" please hang in there :)
