Title: Grandchildren
Post by: BonnieWight on April 05, 2024, 03:59:53 PM
Hello -
Newbie here.  My adult child (mid-30's) was recently diagnosed with bipolar, Cluster-B personality disorder, ADHD, OCD. I have a young grandchild who is currently living with their father due to a mental health crisis last year which resulted in an overnight in jail and a stay in a behavioral health hospital.
Hoping for support from others in similar situations with little ones who are caught up in this nightmare.

I have a similar situation except that my grandson’s father died when he was 2 so he has been in and out of our care. We have had him on 3 occasions for 6 months after mental health crisis.  Another crisis happened last summer but his took him this time because she happened to live next door and was there before us. Typically police are called because my daughter goes into psychosis when she stops taking her bipolar medications.  Which she does every 2 years or so.  I am sorry you have a little one to worry about as well.  I’ve been worried sick about him for years.  He is 11 now.  Sadly I don’t think my daughter is well enough to parent.  She is being forced to do DBT now in order to keep her son. Fingers crossed.  It’s been crisis after crisis since she was 14.  Welcome to the group. :)
