Title: Boston, MA -- area Therapist experienced with treating BPD?
Post by: uniqueson on April 12, 2024, 12:13:10 PM
Can anyone help me with recommendations for a therapist for my 22yo daughter (Boston area)? She has said that she's looked and was supposed to do an intro session with someone, but I don't think it happened.

Would also appreciate any recommendations for a therapist for us (parents)!

Hi and welcome.
While we do not have a list of therapists , from my own personal experience I have done the following:

1. I called my county's mental health crisis center for referrals.

2. I went down the list of therapists in my health insurance network .

3. You could also find therapists and their specialty via the Psychologytoday.com website.

You can try the New York Presbyterian resource center:

https://www.nyp.org/bpdresourcecenter (https://www.nyp.org/bpdresourcecenter)

Although they are in NY, they provide local referrals in other areas.  May be hit or miss, in my experience, but worth a shot.
