Title: Watching your BPD deal with other BPDs
Post by: waldopepper on November 24, 2007, 10:24:14 PM
Ever seen your BPD deal with other BPDs?   It's fascinating, and often an excellent illustration of the adage, we often dislike in others what we hate about ourselves.

I had some interesting insights into my own SO's behaviors recently watching them interact with another BPD.   I tried to share some helpful insights in how to deal with that person and why they were behaving that way.   Of course, my words were misconstrued and we wound up having a tiny argument.

Still, it's amazing to hear someone complain about someone doing the very same things they do themselves.   And then to hear them say that the person angering them "probably wouldn't admit to doing anything wrong", almost made me choke on my tongue.

Oh yes! We call this shadow projection. It is often the only way a BPD can see his own shadow. The more intensely we react to something the more likely it is just a mirror of ourselves. I have learned so much about myself since learning this in a class I once took.

I would just like to add that this kind of projection is also true in the rest of us. It is usually the things that we hate in others that exists in us. If we are mindful of our projections, we can learn a lot about ourselves.

I know this is an old thread but it is facinating... .  Have had this oppotunity now on several occassions and this is what I have noticed.  BPDw enjoys ther shallow company for an evening.  The get along fine it seems as long as substances are present.  But the next day, she has absolutly nothing good to say about them.  Anyone else experience this?
