Title: UNIVERSITY RESEARCH PROJECT: Research Participants Needed
Post by: Alana Tappin PhysD on December 05, 2011, 05:13:12 PM
My name is Alana Tappin and I'm a doctoral candidate currently recruiting participants for my dissertation research titled "The Experience of Growing Up with a Borderline Parent: A Qualitative Study." This study will investigate the experience of growing up with a parent/caregiver with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Using focus groups consisting of adult children of BPD parents/caregivers, I will attempt to develop themes and patterns from interviews with the participants. The aim of this study is to begin to understand the experience of these persons and gain information for further research and treatment intervention for children at risk for developing psychological difficulties as well as parents diagnosed with this disorder.

If you have a parent or were raised by a caregiver diagnosed with BPD and are interested in sharing your unique perspective, please contact me for more information about participating in this study. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

This study will be taking place in the Toronto (Mississauga) area and the New York City area and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board at Long Island University, C.W. Post. You can reach me by email at alana.tappin@gmail.com or by calling 647-234-3454 for Toronto participants or 516-323-6789 for New York City participants.
