Title: I want to help her BUT its getting tougher
Post by: Hugo 1302 on December 09, 2014, 09:11:38 AM
I honestly dont know where to start, im in a relationship with a BPD sufferer and dont know how much more i can handle. The past 17 months has been one hell of an emotional roller coaster, ive been verbally and physically assaulted several times and she has attempted suicide twice and was also addicted to gambling and online gaming for 6 months leaving me to look after her 4 children while she withdrew from reality and ignored us.

 *welcome* Hugo,

It is a crazy messed up roller coaster ride. Unbelievable, really. Except that we've all been on it--that is why we are here in this forum.

You mentioned being physically assaulted. That is really serious, and you have to be really careful to protect yourself from that. Please read this so you can better understand your situation, which has a lot of risks for you:

Suicide attempts are also very serious. Be ready to involve police or at least a suicide hotline if she starts talking about that again.

What is your living situation today?

Are you living with her and her children?

Do you have children of your own?

Does she verbally or physically abuse her children too?

Do find yourself reacting and tying to argue back and prove your case to her... Then it all just escalates?
