Title: my wife is BPD and i've exerbated the problem
Post by: alexb on December 09, 2014, 10:48:34 PM
My wife has and is again threatening divorce, i'm 67, she's 65, and I'm feeling threatened, afraid, possibly abandoned, lonely and desperate.  Will leaving for a couple days help her and me. I feel like I've made her condition worse by being so present, but she's mad when I go out and have a life, relationships, community, etc.

*welcome*

Hard to say without more background. Leaving for a few days is an option when things have reached a point where everything you do makes things worse. Generally with pwBPD everything does not need to be resolved today, even though they act so. Taking a break as a safety fuse is often a good idea. It will also be triggering, so it is a case of which is the lessor of two evils.

Always hold onto the fact that you are an individual, you are not owned property and you have a right to do things for yourself.
