Title: Looking for hope.
Post by: Madtripper on April 06, 2015, 12:40:31 AM
Hi I am the wife of a BPD husband, we've been together 9 years and married for 3 and a half. No children together but I have 2 teenagers from a previous relationship and he has a 16 year old he hardly sees. He had a diagnosis of Bipolar when we met but last year was given the new added diagnosis' of not just Bipolar but BPD and Narcissistic personality disorder aswell. He is having fortnightly 25mg injections of Rispiradone and 100mg Quetiapine nightly plus fortnightly testosterone injections for hypoandroginism. I have joined this group because I feel like I'm at breaking point and feeling hopeless that we will always be miserable from the issues arising from his borderline and the fact it will always be this way kills me inside. Is anybody experiencing what I am or something similar? Is there any hope of ever filling the big abyss of emptiness in my husbands soul? No matter what I do it's never good enough.  :'(

Hello Madtripper,

If he's diagnosed and on medication, how is the talk therapy going? Is he in anything like DBT?

I hear you about the emptiness. The mother of our kids used to talk about it. I never knew how to respond... .

To start, take a look at the lessons to the right of the board (or at the top). Understanding what you are dealing with is a first step. Learning the validation skills (lesson 3), is a next. If he's NPD too, we have some discussion which may also help:

Dealing with narcissists by reinforcing the positive (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=120342.0)

I hope to hear more and how best we can support you.

*welcome*
