Title: New Strange Behavior
Post by: Lovingme35 on May 18, 2015, 07:38:09 PM
Over the weekend my SO's behavior has gotten weird. He suddenly cannot make any decisions. He is acting completely helpless like a little kid. He cannot decide what to wear or eat, and asks me to help him with everything. He has never done this before. He is still laughing and having a good time with me. He went to work today like normal. What could this new behavior mean?

The behavior that you mentioned is reminiscent of diagnostic criteria for dependent personality disorder (DPD). Child like behavior and the inability to make decisions is centered around fear of abandonment and the inability to be alone.

That is true. I forgot to mention that I just cut my hair off. Something that he has wanted our entire relationship but I was not comfortable in doing. It looks really cute and I am happy with it, I am just wondering if it triggered something in him.

He may be seeing you as someone different and maybe trying to bring out the mothering/rescuer in you in order to rebond.
