Title: Using SET is helping me maintain my sanity
Post by: Lifewriter16 on August 16, 2015, 02:57:48 PM
Hi All,

I just wanted to report that I am finding that using SET is helping me to maintain my own sanity when my BPDbf is dysregulating. I feel that I am able to be supportive of him whilst also being true to myself, whereas before I felt I was selling out on myself. I have stopped feeling like I am in danger of losing myself or vanishing into him. The anxiety I fell is nowhere near as disabling as it was.

Things are still really challenging though.  We've had 3 major crises in the 11 days since we got back together. He is trying to be really mindful of whom he is actually angry with. He is experiencing some suicidal ideation and is really distressed. He needs regular contact with me to stop himself from disconnecting completely. I still find that I am focusing upon him too much, but am I making progress towards redressing the balance and attending to my own needs for healing.

Love Lifewriter x

So good to hear. Congratulations on your self-discovery progress. And I can relate as I'm just learning to use these tools effectively and consistently too. Freedom is good!
