Title: How can I help my body husbAnd who wants everyone to believe I am controlling
Post by: Marrosa on July 22, 2016, 06:02:32 AM
I have been married 25yrs and with all the craziness have help him finally get diagnosed last year. I thought after having a clear diagnosis he would be on his way to recovery but instead he has been in denial. I had to seperate because he doesn't believe anything I say, he feels that I a. Controlling, manipulative etc... .all the things I have told him he does are now being turned around on me. He also has convinced his friends of this also which doesn't help our relationship.

We have been to many Counselors overs the years and no one was able to help or give a diagnosis, probably because he would lie and pour the charm, play the victim. They feel sorry for him instead. Are their any good Counselors that provide DBT ?

First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about your separation, that must be difficult for you to go through.  It sounds like your husband is "projecting" his own controlling tendencies back onto you as well as remaining in denial of his condition?  I know for me personally in dealing with similar situations with my wife, I had to get to the point where her characterizations of me didn't really matter anymore.  People with BPD can be quite convincing, even to therapists, especially ones that aren't skilled in dealing with the disorder.  There are many great therapists out there that you'd have to spend some time researching, but even if you found a good one, is he willing to go at this time?
