Title: I can no longer care for my adult son Post by: Egg shells on January 16, 2017, 02:54:09 AM Tonight is my final straw. I just got a call from ER my 28 year old son is being transferred to ICU.
Apparently he left the house after I went to bed and in a drunken stupor tried to Rob someone of their wallet did not succeed but had a seizure and the police called an ambulance to take him to the hospital. My son has been in and out of mental hospitals since he was a teen and started cutting himself. The multiple psychiatrists have given him every psych drug they could pull out of their grab bag. He often bs each new therapist until they catch on to his manipulation. One minute he is a loving son willing to work hard toward goals but in a heart beat he can be abusive and manipulating. He has no impulse control especially when he drinks. This evening he was anxious and tearful but promised he had no intention to harm self or others. I thought it was safe for me to go to bed. This robbery attempt is unbelievable and my final straw. He cannot come home. He is terminally mentally ill and there is no more hope. I cannot bear his anguish anymore. *welcome* I'm so sorry to hear that I can see how emotionally distressing athat would feel when our kids get in trouble with the law. I don't have a child w/BPD, I have an ex wife that displays BPD traits, I completely understand how heartbreaking lack of impulse control and the inability to understand the consequences of your choices. Many members here can relate with you and offer you guidance and support. Are you see a T? ( therapist ) The maximum benefit is seeing a T concurrently with a support group, you're not alone, we'll walk with you through this. PS You can find the lessons to the right side of the board :) |
