Title: new to the site, sister with BPD
Post by: breadlady1 on November 21, 2017, 09:13:01 PM
Hello -- I have come to understand over the past couple of years that my sister, who is six years older, suffers from BPD. We are both in our thirties now and live near each other. She is married and has a baby. My parents live in a nearby city and we have another sister who lives further away. While all of my family members are affected by my sister's behavior, my Mom endures a disproportionate amount of abuse. I am seeking resources to help myself and the rest of my family cope with my sister's issues. I am also extremely concerned for the wellbeing of her baby as he gets older and am searching for ways to help my nephew cope with a mother with BPD in the future.

Hi breadlady1,

The lessons and the suggested reading at the top of the board are a good place to start.  I know it's a lot of material.  It can help us help support you to narrow it down.

What kinds of abuse do you see your mother enduring?

And what about you? ":)isproportionate" tells me that you and your other sister are also targets.

I have a sister who I suspect has BP too.  My mother is a BP and I know children are at risk to develop a personality disorder when raised by one.  What do you attribute your sister's BPD to?  Does your sister have a significant other?
