Title: Daughter self destructive and angry
Post by: dailyeggshells on November 10, 2018, 03:36:24 PM
She cannot take responsibility for her actions. When disciplined, she lashes out and is verbally abusive, then shuts down and acts as though she doesn't care. She doesn't do homework in classes she thinks are "beneath" her - is failing or has a D in at least 3 classes at an expensive school. She is there because of the social workers on staff and "safety" but the drama impacts her and she spirals. She has done 6 months of DBT, individual therapy for 3-4 years, psychiatric meds for anxiety and depression. She feels helpless as do I.

She is a sophomore in high school - her dad and split her tuition. She started cutting in 6th but has always been oppositional and impossible to discipline. She is charming and bright and insightful too. When she is challenged by me she is aggressive and angry - she is interested in more therapy and group work - I just feel like she snows her therapists too
