Title: Our lives are chaos. Need help bringing order & peace to our unmanageable lives
Post by: Lostandwondering on March 10, 2019, 12:20:03 PM
I am giving in. I’ve resisted the label for my daughter, preferring to believe trauma is to blame for her symptoms and it will get better. It’s not getting better but worse and our lives are chaos. We need help with how to navigate this horrible reality and bring order and peace to our unmanageable lives.

Hi Lostandwondering :hi:

Welcome to BPD Family!

Although I'm sorry you had to find us, I'm glad you did. You will find many parents here who will be able to relate to what you've shared. My DD25 was diagnosed at age 17 and I only recently accepted it. Like you, I preferred to believe it would get better. Maybe with age, maturity, life experiences?

We need help with how to navigate this horrible reality and bring order and peace to our unmanageable lives.

You've come to the right place for help, Lostandwondering. We've lots of tools, articles, and best of all, others walking a similar journey - you are not alone.

What are the behaviors that you are finding the most challenging with your daughter?

Again, welcome - I hope you find this place as helpful as I, and many others, have

~ OH

Hi Lostandwondering

Along with Only Human, welcoming you here.

I speak from experience (and advanced age) when I say it probably won't get better until YOU start to make changes...something your daughter either won't or can't do.

It has been a long, hard, emotional journey for us since our daughter first started to "act out" at age 12.  She is now 52.  Yep, my husband and I are late bloomers but, in our defense, the help just wasn't there for us way-back-then.  Participating on/in this forum has been life-changing.

I echo Only Human's words in telling you that, indeed, you have come to right place for help and support.  It takes lots of hard work and guts to start making changes but once you get the feeling of being empowered, you can be on your way to better tomorrows.

Hope you share more with us, Lostandwondering.  What has happened up to now?  Has your daughter been officially diagnosed?  Has she ever received counselling/treatment?  Have you been to counselling?

Once again...welcome :hi:.
