Title: Daughter 18 setting boundaries
Post by: Sdlmhelp on September 15, 2019, 05:31:14 AM
We just found out our daughter has bpd. She doesn’t know it yet. She has not been able to get a job or attend classes (she just graduated high school) because her anxiety and explosive temper prevent her from getting anywhere on time. We are trying to set boundaries without totally overwhelming her but giving her empowerment and freedom too.

Hello Sdimhelp
Welcome to the group. You have come to the right place for reliable information, help, and support. How did you find out your daughter has BPD? How do you feel about it? How do you think she will feel about it once she finds out (which I am assuming she will)? It is quite an adjustment. I am glad you reached out to us.

You ask specifically about boundaries so here is my "go to" article on that subject.  Setting Boundaries  (https://bpdfamily.com/content/setting-boundaries) I hope it helps. I look forward to hearing more from you, whatever you are comfortable sharing.

Hugs
Faith

Welcome and hello, Sdlmhelp

Anxiety and explosive temper, that's a lot to live with (as her family), not to mention how it must feel to be her. What led to her diagnosis?

Do you agree with the psychologist that she isn't ready to know about the dx just yet?

How you and the family managing her outbursts?
