Title: How do I make this situation the best it can be
Post by: perseverance on November 18, 2019, 05:13:07 PM
Hello everyone I am just learning about BPD and want to learn more. My son is dating a girl who has BPD and I want to learn how to have a relationship with her. She recently cut me out of her life because of a situation I really didn't see coming. There was also a few situations with her and my son where he was crying hysterically because of it. He claims that they will be forever. My question is how do I make this situation the best it can be.

Hi Perseverance!  First of all, welcome to the group.  What a great name you chose!   I love how you came here to help your son and his girlfriend and to learn and understand.  That's beautiful.   I encourage you to read as much as you can, there are tools and tips on this site and suggested books.  Learning some of the communication methods has helped me tremendously.  Also reading books about BPD and having compassion for the person with BPD (vs anger) helps too and makes us feel empowered rather than like victims.
I'm so glad you are here.  If you want to share more we are listening!

Hello Perseverance
I join Resilient in welcoming you here and in commending you for being so compassionate toward your son's girlfriend. There is so much to learn about BPD. Where would you like to start?
