Title: My daughter
Post by: rjh18 on May 21, 2020, 09:47:05 PM
My daughter is 22 and has long exhibited mild body symptoms mostly as a teen.  She recently got engaged and her bpd symptoms went through the roof.  I used to have a good relationship with her and she completely turned on me.  She accuses me of things she does and has no rational view of reality.  Trying to get her to see her own behavior is useless.  She is verbally abusive to me and my wife and any attempt to reason has failed.  This has thrown our whole family into chaos.  Would like some guidance on how to deal with her and get her to see she needs help.

Hi there!
Yes, it is so confusing when it all starts up like that! In family it all started up last summer, with a sudden breakup - and total rage.
The first book I found, and that gave me a lot of insight, was Valerie Porr's book Overcoming Borderline Personality Disorder. I really recommend it! I think it gives good explanations of what is happening with your daughter and your familiy, and also give good recommendations on how we as family members best should react.
It is not at all a difficult book to read, but it really turns things upside down :-)
