Title: 24 yr old shows all the traits of bpd
Post by: Parentofborde347 on September 17, 2020, 01:32:31 AM
I am just learning about bpd as I strongly suspect my 24 yr old daughter has bpd, and I do not want to tell her of my suspicions. It would not go over well. My needs are - I need lots of advice on how I can maintain a less painful relationship with her, how can I be supportive, how should I handle myself around her, and what do other bpd persons say to help a novice mother in navigating my reactions, words, understanding and be supportive of my daughter's struggles? I need lots of guidance!

Hi Parent. Thanks for writing in.
Since your daughter is an adult, the changes we seek fall on us with ourselves mostly, as we can't control another adult.
Does she live with you?

~ Read all you can about BPD , also I suggest you look over the book selection on this forum's "library" .  "Stop Walking on Eggshells" is a popular book recommendation. In it you will be surprised the first order of business is to take care of yourself first and foremost.
~Realize this is a marathon, not a sprint.  And there are no easy one stop answers.
