Title: how to keep the peace
Post by: kitty1961 on April 08, 2021, 09:22:01 AM
My adult daughter moves back home a couple of weeks ago.

How do I balance her issues with her step dad?

He refuses to be afraid of her, no less walk on eggshells

I like to choose my battles with her, he wont play that game.
Hes obviously upset and mad that she moved home.

I am doing a balancing act trying to keep the peace.

kitty1961, I read your other posts to catch up. I can relate to tension between stepdad and daughters, juggling which battle to pick and feeling so tired of it all. Where I used to step in to fix or patch, I'm learning to step away and allow the chips to fall where they may.

How are you? Do you have support mechanisms in place? It's super important, especially now, to take care of yourself emotionally and physically. When things get intense, I take vitamin supplements, go outside for 15 minutes of sunshine, talk with friends, watch a funny Youtube video, schedule counseling appointments, come here and vent - whatever I need to get through that day. I'm not sure it alleviates my problems as much as it makes me feel like I'm being proactive. The little bit of serotonin helps me find some joy, sometimes I can see a little more clearly, or feel a little more purpose.

It may not get better today but life has a way of cycling through ups and downs. It won't always feel this intense. We're here.

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am kind of still in shock that she's here. She has not lived here for many many years.
She's very "odd" and "quirky " but so far has not been destructive.

I am walking everyday as that seems to calm me.
I dont really have anymore friends , cancelling plans due to daughter drama has gotten to them.

I think I just trying to keep things nice because there is no other living alternative for her then here.
