Title: Trauma treatment is essential

Look into trauma therapy for all family members. Yes, things will be worse at first. Then you may see growth.

Thank you for this suggestion! My 16 year old began EMDR a couple years ago, then suicidal ideation became a more pressing concern, we had to switch therapists, etc. Your post reminded me to schedule an appointment with the EMDR therapist she used to see. Great timing, because I am just so sick of taking her to two other therapists and not seeing anything change. Maybe this will be the thing that propels her forward.

I think of my bpd daughter's older sister who has endured years of upheaval with her sister. Though we have done our best to be there for her, her sister's latest crisis dominates our lives.

I think of my husband, first called in hard times. He is the target of my bpd daughter's accusations.

I think of myself, always in the middle.  Trying to mitigate the turmoil, pleasing no one. A no win situation.

There seem to be other families struggling like mine. I  agree all family members need trauma therapy.
