Title: SET BOUNDARIES FIND PEACE, by Nedra Glover Tawwab
Post by: Methuen on March 21, 2024, 04:46:29 PM
Printed in 2021, I read this and found it to be organized, straight forward, and filled with helpful relatable examples.

It was recommended by my T.

It gave me permission to have boundaries with my mother.

It showed me the boundaries I've been missing with her, and how to do better.

It is well written, easy to read, and she doesn't beat around the bush about the importance of maintaining boundaries in a difficult relationship.  Lot's of guidance around how to proceed.

Very helpful and practical.  I would recommend this book.

Thank you for sharing.

I am interested in relaxing some of my boundaries to allow my pwBPD to reconnect emotionally.  I went from having almost no boundaries, to really strict ones to stop the violence, stop the rages, and limit the emotional dysregulation directed at me and our children - we now have peace in my home, and our children are much happier.

I am interested in having 'just right' boundaries using the goldilocks analogy.  I went from having too 'soft' to too 'hard' and I desire to have 'just right' boundaries.

Would your book recommendation be good for this?  I've already started this process, I am interested if this book has specific examples.

Thanks for listening.

Take care.

Hi Salty Dawg,

Sorry for the late reply.  I just saw this.

Yes honestly I think this book does a very good job of pragmatically showing us that boundaries are needed, and how to implement them in ways that are kind and fair to the other person while also honouring ourselves.  There are so many examples.  I feel she covers what you are looking for.

I found it super helpful.

I agree that this author does a very good job of laying out boundaries and being helpful in learning how to set them. She also has a workbook with additional exercises to go through and I found that useful as well.

Methuen,

Thanks for sharing, I've always intended my boundaries to be kind, fair, while also honoring not only myself, but our children as well.

Quick update, things are improving with my wife and family, there are no more extinction bursts since January, and things are getting better, rapidly, so I no longer have to talk about those boundaries anymore.  If things continue in this direction, I will be posting a 'success story' in the next few months.
