VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

"Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic, capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it."  Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.

Hey all! I’m wondering if you all have some favorite quotes from movies, songs or anything really. Perhaps you have a saying of your own.  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)

I've always lived by "Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." I picked it up when I was younger in my athlete days, but it's come to mean something different as I've gotten older. In my current situation, the pain is immense sometimes, but it reminds me to exercise what little control I have to not necessarily resist the pain, but to let it be its own thing and not all that I am. As I learn to resist black and white thinking, this small distinction is important.

I know lots of quotes but cant think of any specific one at the moment, i seem to revolve around them, many of them from philosophers, I think Epicurus said along the lines "change what can be changed, do not try to change the things that cannot", . I hope you dont mind me posting a poem by Rudyard Kipling instead, its kept me strong going through the detachment, as well as other times in my life, I came across it when I was very young but it didnt make as much sense to me back then as it does with experience.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

I like our man Socrates amongst many others.  He's had much to say.  Eg Life without experience and suffering is not life

Luke: "Is the dark side stronger?"
Yoda: "No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive."
Luke: "But how am I to know the good side from the bad?"
Yoda: "You will know... .when you are calm, at peace, passive."

"I'm not crying because of you. You're not worth it.  I'm crying because my delusion of who you were was shattered by the truth of who you are".
-Steve Maraboli

Only half true, as I know it's the illness that makes her this way and she's not like this by choice, but it still resonates with me.
