I broke NC at her behest a few months ago although she was still with my replacement which should have put me off but regardless I did it.

Obviously I have been put through some strife by her but to be honest,  the negative impact on HER life has been virtually catastrophic. 

When dealing with someone impulsive and who has little self control,  the risk on both sides is too great. She's made decisions which have basically ruined her life (again)

To be honest I got off easy this time by seeing the wave of destruction incoming and running for the hills.

Keep NC for their benefit as much as yours

I agree with this. Its as much as for their good as yours to keep NC. My ex gets triggered straight to BPD mode by hearing my name. I can't even imagine what would happen if I actually had to talk to him.
