Earlier this week my husband went to check on the apartment that he cosigned a lease on for my son. He found an illegal shot gun in it. DH told me he disposed of it but today he told me he lied. He actually left it there. What now? Several things go through my mind. 1. Even though DH is legally a co- tenant in the apartment it is supposed to be my son's space so maybe H should not go there uninvited. 2. That said if my son does something illegal there DH could get into trouble too. What do you think I should recommend as the best course of action for DH to take now?

Ugh, really sorry to hear this FHL. I agree with 1.  Has your H worked out how he could get in trouble as a co-tenant, as a result of your DS's actions?

Thanks. My husband is aware of how he could get into trouble due to our son's actions and now agrees the gun has to go.

It does have to go, I get that.

And then you'll both step back?

FHL, my DD was dx at 26 and accepted treatment, she was on fire. So many friends, like you question how do I get my loved one into treatment, especially our teens. I asked my DD why and she shared she was not ready, at 18 the thought of sharing her pain with a therapist, stranger, NO. She said the hard knocks of life helped her learn (no guns here!). At 26 she felt ready.

Hang in there, we find our way, for us.

DH told me he disposed of it but today he told me he lied.

did he explain why he lied?

i figure the gun is for protection regarding the recent happenings? i dont know the laws in your city or state, but are there guns he can have legally?

Once Removed, My husband doesn't seem to know why he lied to me. He has never done anything like that before. I suspect we will be talking more about it later perhaps after he has a chance to process it with his therapist.
