Good Morning -
This is my first post here. My 18 yr old daughter was recently diagnosed with BPD along with Bipolar Disorder. To say that the last 9 months have been hard is an understatement. She was diagnosed while away at college, she graduated high school early therefore was in college at the age of 17. We did not know of either diagnosis until she came home because of the pandemic. We were completely blindsided and unprepared. We had no mental healthcare set up and could not find a practice to take her in. She ended up being admitted to the hospital in May for self harm and active suicide thoughts. That was the first of 4 hospitalizations in 2020.

Since she has been home our home life as been nothing but chaos, stress and anxiety. I have been working from home which is great because I'm home to help her but it also makes me the direct target of her anger and frustrations. She has said really nasty things to me on a daily basis. She manipulates me into stepping away from work by any means. It has gotten so bad that I had to seek out a therapist for myself.

I'm glad to find this message board to connect with other people that are going through the same thing as me.

Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

Hi Wgirl,

We welcome you to this site with love and understanding!

I don't have much I can say right now  - I just excused myself from our visiting neighbors/friends because I wanted to reach out so I can't be long.  Having said that I would love to converse with you more.

I too was SO thankful to find this site last year.

Please take advantage of everything offered here.   I credit this and the books that I have read for helping me so much with my son.

I just received a text from him that said something to the effect of "thanks, and I do feel like the knot in my stomach is 99% loosened up from where it was".

Without BPDfamily and all of the great information in the library plus the other parents posting here I would not have the where-with-all to communicate properly with my son.

I am glad you found us, sorry for what brought you here.

More members will chime in soon.

Hugs
